The Bike Station, Perth will be bringing all their knowledge, skills and bikes along to the inaugural Perth on the Go event, to support and enjoy the traffic free city centre.

On Sunday 6th of August, everyone is invited to  Perth city centre to walk, cycle and enjoy a traffic free environment. This can either be as part of your everyday travel needs as you make your way through quieter streets with improved air quality or as an event in its own right, something to take part in. It could also be your opportunity to try cycling in town if you are considering beginning to cycle to work or an opportunity to get back on the bike again knowing there will be support on hand.

The Bike Station, with their, tried and tested Dr. Bike stand, will be in front of the concert hall offering free bike health checks. Their two Dr Bike mechanics will give your bike a once over, fixing any small things and pointing out anything that requires further attention. They are also a wealth of knowledge and experience on all types of cycling from cycling to work, mountain bike enduro to triathlon and everything in between so feel free to have a chat and be inspired!

The company is also offering private slots for some bike training between 11 am and 2 pm on the day. Email kat@thebikestation.org.uk before the 3rd of August to reserve your slots.

The Bike Station’s Dr Bike and Event Co-ordinator said: “These closed street events happen in cities all over the world and allow an opportunity to bring people together to share in activities they aren’t usually able to do or feel confident to do.

It also shows that motorised traffic isn’t always the answer and in towns cycling and walking are forms of transport that bring about more than simply getting to work or school, they allow people to mix and talk and feel a sense of belonging in their community. I can’t wait for Perth on the Go and I’m excited for the residents of Perth and those who will undoubtedly enjoy a lifetime of cycling and walk more as a result of giving it a go at this event.”
