The Carse of Gowrie Sustainability Group has secured funding from the Heritage Lottery to celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of Patrick Matthew 19th Century landowner, farmer, social justice campaigner and fruit grower who discovered the process of natural selection thirty years before Charles Darwin, yet has never been recognised by the scientific establishment.
'In actuality, it is Scotland and its people who have been most short changed by this deception. Therefore, it is they and Scotlandwho need torecover this heritage taken from them. Keynote speech by Howard Minnick, Botanist, Conservationist, and 3rd Great Grandson of Patrick Matthew. Entertainment from piper John Robertson, Scottish Country dancersThe Angus Kitties,and drama from Linsay Duncan of Speak Scotland. Light refreshments will be served.
We will be launching all the weekend's events, including the start of the Patrick Matthew Trail - a map of 6 QR points to visit across the Carse of Gowrie. Visit them all and find out much more information about Patrick Matthew and places that were important in his life.
