EDF and British Gas equipped with stab vests during home visits

EDF energy and British Gas staff have been equipped with stab vests for safety measures it has emerged.

For those that don't pay their bills (credit meters) eventually staff will attend the property to fit a pay as you go meter or cut your supply. Latest figures show EDF and British Gas are equipped with stab vests.

A spokesman for EDF Energy told the Telegraph: ‘Our staff are issued with stab vests when carrying out debt-related customer visits or visits where the meter has been tampered with.’

Last week stats shown SSE was the best to deal with complaints.

The data shows that during the first three months of 2015 the relative number of complaints accepted by the Ombudsman from SSE customers was the lowest among the UK’s 10 largest suppliers.

The Ombudsman received 4.16 complaints for every 100,000 SSE customers between January and March, against an industry average of 32.74. The 302 SSE complaints that were accepted by the Ombudsman amount to less than 2% of the industry total of 16,220.
