Client data used in order to fulfil a contract or quote between Perth Gazette and Newsme, and you, the client.

  • Data associated with processing editorial content may contain an individuals first name, last name, age or address (but not limited to) will be deleted once Shetland News knows there aren’t any relevant ongoing editorials surrounding the original content.
  • Information about your computer and about your visit(s), including your IP address, geographical location, browser type, browser version, operating system, referral source, length of visit, page views and website navigation paths will be deleted within 213 days (7 months).
  • Data associated with the clients (first name, last name, email address, telephone number and address) will be deleted within 1,856 days (61 months).

Notwithstanding the other provisions of this section, we will retain documents (including electronic documents) containing personal data:

  • to the extent that we are required to do so by law;
  • if we believe that the documents may be relevant to any ongoing or prospective legal proceedings; and
  • in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and reducing credit risk).

Security of Personal Information

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information.

We may store your personal information (collected directly or indirectly) on:

  • third party storage solutions and email services (all with multi-factor authentication);
  • the company server (regular security updates and firewall protection); and

Perth Gazette, Newsme may withhold information within legal limits.

Right to be informed

You may instruct us to provide you with any personal information we hold about you; provision of such information will be subject to:

  • identifying the supply of appropriate evidence of your identity (for this purpose, we will usually accept a photocopy of your passport certified by a solicitor or bank, plus an original copy of a utility bill showing your current address).
  • a waiting time of up to 31 days (1 month).

Right to erasure (news)

If you believe your personal information is not pertinent to the editorial content and you can substantiate this claim, we will consider your request.

Right to erasure (account)

If you have an account with Perth Gazette & Newsme or have permission to act on behalf of someone, you are entitled to request us to erase any personal data we hold about you from our system.

Information may be deleted on request by using the information in the Contact Us section (bottom of page). We undertake to perform the deletion within 28 calendar days and will send you a confirmation once the information has been deleted. Wherever possible, we will aim to complete the request in advance of a deadline.

If there is any doubt about the request we may need to verify your identity before commencing the deletion process.

Once the data is deleted from the system, the data cannot be recovered by any employee at Perth Gazette or Newsme.

Right to rectification

Please refer to the Contact Us section, if the personal information that we hold about you needs to be corrected or updated.
