Flooding in Perth as heavy rain falls across Tayside

A month’s worth of rain is expected to fall within a short period as the Met Office issues a yellow weather warning covering much of the United Kingdom, including Perth and Kinross.

Local authorities are urging caution as widespread surface flooding impacts key routes across the region. Perth and Kinross Council has confirmed the closure of Feus Road until water levels recede.

Broxden Roundabout, Crieff Road, Glasgow Road, Jeanfield Road, Wallace Crescent, Primrose Crescent and Stuart Avenue have all been affected by rising floodwaters, causing disruption for motorists.

Meanwhile, concerns are growing over conditions at the Bells Sports Centre car park, with officials advising drivers to relocate their vehicles to avoid potential damage.

Residents are encouraged to follow local updates and take precautions as the heavy rainfall continues to affect transport and infrastructure.

Between 3pm and 4pm, an intense downpour brought 36mm of rainfall in just one hour across Perth, STV weatherman Sean Batty says.
