The proposal is part of an overall masterplan by developers Rivertree Residential, where the first phase will refurbish the existing listed main building plus the old Birnam and Elcho wards into 58 flats. The Category B listed Chapel would be retained as a communal building and be maintained long term by the management company.

The next phase includes the demolition of the fire-damaged Gilgal building and non-listed buildings plus tree works and associated landscape improvements.

The final phase would see up to 70 detached and semi-detached properties being built on existing mature landscape on the 8.83-hectare site.
