Perth and Kinross Council launches £1m programme of road upgrades

Perth and Kinross Council has rolled out a series of major road improvement schemes following the approval of an additional £1 million investment in this year’s budget.

The extra funding, agreed as part of the 2025/26 Council budget in February, has enabled seven additional resurfacing projects across the region, aimed at strengthening the existing road maintenance programme.

One of the first to be completed is a 350-metre stretch of the A912 between Wicks of Baiglie Road and the M90 slip road at Bridge of Earn. The road has been upgraded with a high-performance surface designed to withstand heavy use from lorries and buses. Although the works were scheduled to take two weeks, they finished ahead of time.

Councillor Eric Drysdale, Environment and Infrastructure Convener, welcomed the progress. He said:
“Road maintenance is a top priority for residents across Perth and Kinross. That’s why the Council administration included an extra £1 million on top of the existing maintenance budget — to deliver meaningful improvements that will benefit communities and the local economy.

“These additional schemes use high-quality materials that will reduce the need for future maintenance, saving time and resources in the long run. I’m delighted to see the Bridge of Earn works completed ahead of schedule and look forward to the positive impact of the remaining projects, some of which are already underway.”
