Provost congratulates Beautiful Scotland winners

Perth and Kinross Provost Liz Grant today congratulated local communities across the Perth and Kinross area on winning a clutch of major awards in the 2014 Beautiful Scotland competition.

Coupar Angus was announced as the overall winner of the competition receiving the Rosebowl Trophy and a gold medal as well as winning their category of best large village.

Bridge of Earn (Large Village Category) and Blairgowrie and Rattray (Medium Town Category) and Muthill (Small Village Category) all won Silver Gilt medals.

Provost Liz Grant welcomed the awards: "This is an absolutely fantastic achievement, and my warmest congratulations go to Coupar Angus Pride of Place, Brig in Bloom, Muthill in Bloom and Blairgowrie & Rattray in Bloom. The excellent work done by our communities is evident to see and I’m delighted that the judges of this prestigious national competition agree. This year so many in Bloom groups are celebrating 2014 and we have worked with many to create 19 dynamic willow sculptures which can be seen around the area as part of our legacy programme, 'Take Part, Take Pride, Take Place'. As a Council we work hard to support our local in Bloom groups and their role in enhancing the environment and quality of life for our residents and visitors is vital."
