SCAA Biker Bash raised over £2700 for charity

Hundreds of motorbikes gathered at Perth Airport on Saturday (31 May) to raise money for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance.

Organisers, Phil Wright and Ian Potter, were overwhelmed by the response to the first ever SCAA Biker Bash when more than 250 motorbikes from all over Scotland turned up.

Phil said: "When we first started to plan the Biker Bash we thought we'd maybe get 100 bikes if we were lucky. To have attracted more than double that to the day and to have raised more than £2700 for the air ambulance is just astounding."

Ian added: "Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance is a fantastic service, and it's obviously a cause which is close to most biker's hearts. While no one wants to be in an accident and everyone has a duty to ride safely, it's comforting to know that if something did go wrong then the air ambulance can respond to get to people quickly no matter how remote their location."

The Biker Bash began at Perth Airport before taking the 253 participants on a tour of over 100 miles of the best local scenery including Bridge of Cally, Pitlochry, Tummel and Aberfeldy. The end of the journey saw the riders arrive in Dundee for a free BBQ courtesy of John Clark BMW.

The SCAA Biker Bash would like to thank everyone who helped make the day a success, including Scotloo, Fife Charity Motorcycle Runs (support vehicles and general good advice), our volunteer marshalls, Richard Smith (photos), the registration volunteers, John Clark BMW (free BBQ), Joyce Leslie (for allowing use of the airfield), the burger van ladies, the SCAA for the hospitality and of course to everyone that showed up and donated so generously!
