Appeal for witnesses following assault and attempted robbery at South Street, Perth

Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses after a woman assaulted a 21-year-old at a cash machine in South Street, Perth whilst demanding money from her.

Although no money was taken, the victim suffered a sprained wrist as a result of the incident at the ATM, which happened near the junction of King Street/County Place, between about 7pm and 7.15pm on Sunday, July 26.

Officers are keen to trace a man and two women who came to the assistance of the victim shortly after the incident.

The woman responsible is described as being about 25 to 35 years-old and of heavy build. She was in the company of another woman, also described as being about 25-35-years-old of heavy build and who was wearing a black rucksack at the time.

In appealing for information regarding the incident, residents are reminded to be aware of your surroundings when withdrawing money from cash machines. Stay alert, hide your PIN, be aware of who’s behind you and keep money out of view.

The victim had a black Labrador dog with her at the time she was assaulted and anyone who may remember the incident or anyone who has information that could assist officers with their enquiries, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
