Craig Scrimgeour represents Perth at Scone Palace

Perth schoolboy Craig Scrimgeour is a talented young man with a big musical future. The 6th year Perth Academy pupil who plays violin, trumpet and piano, was invited to join other talented musicians from across Europe as part of the European Youth Brass Band. 

It brought Fiona Hyslop the Cabinet Secretary and Provost Grant to Scone Palace on Friday to launch the youth part of the Festival.

Craig who listens to all types of music was thrilled to be included. Speaking to Perth Gazette he said: "I was delighted to be chosen and I played the Soprano Cornet. The rehearsals were intense but performing was very enjoyable".

Provost Grant was happy to support the prestigious event.

"It is marvellous that Perth is hosting such a gathering and delighted that Craig, a product of one of our local schools played such an important part in that"

After the summer Craig will be studying music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow and plans to become a Music Teacher. I'm sure we will hear much more of this young man.
