41-year-old man arrested after armed police lock down Perth street

Police Scotland confirmed armed officers are assisting with an ongoing incident in Perth.

Police have closed off Campsie Road to members of the public while the situation is brought under control. Local residents say it is a hostage situation and that armed and trained specialist officers are trying to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 5.45 am this morning, Sat 30 April, 2022, police attended a concern for person call at an address in Campsie Road, Perth.

"As a precaution, local officers were assisted by armed officers at the incident which concluded at 11.50 am.  No firearm was discharged.

“ A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are continuing."

UPDATE: Incident has ended, Campsie Road is now open.
