Appeal for dog walker to assit Police Scotland with enquiries

Police in Perth are appealing for witnesses following a report of a 56-year-old woman who was frightened and distressed by the intimidating behaviour of a group of men, whilst walking her dog at the South Inch yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, August 13)

The woman, who was on her own, sat down at a park bench with her black Labrador dog, near to the pond at about 4.30pm, when a group of five men surrounded her, placing her in a state of fear and alarm.

One of the men, described as being between 18 and 20 years old, of slim build, with short hair/shaved head, and wearing a black bomber-style jacket, reached over and removed an item of headwear from her, causing the woman significant embarrassment and distress. The group only ran off towards the city centre, when a passing dog walker came to the victims’ assistance.

Police are extremely keen to trace this witness, as it is believed he has information that could assist police with their enquiries. He is described as being in his mid to late 20s, of stocky build, wearing a light blue polo shirt, shorts and boots and was walking a white dog.

The victim was wearing a khaki-coloured rain jacket, with pink-piping and jeans and her dog had a tartan-coloured collar.

Although police are keen to trace the witness in the blue polo shirt, anyone who was in the area at the time who saw or heard anything that may assist with enquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101. Alternatively information can be passed via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
