Smart Parking have fined an Asda customer even though his car was being washed.

Mr Oyimangirwe Barume was fined £40 for exceeding a time limit according to the customer, even though he was handed a receipt after he handed his own car keys to the car wash assistants.

He said: "I thought  because my car was in the hands of these car wash people then Asda's limit time doesn't apply. Two weeks later I received a £40 ticket to pay"

He also added that a letter was sent to the company to explain the situation but had a response from Smart Parking to say the fine remains in place.

According to Scot Gov, parking fines are only enforceable if issued by your local council or Police Scotland. This incident happened in one of its Tayside stores, Asda are yet to respond to the incident.
