Cyclist taken to Ninewellls after collision with a private coach

Police Scotland have announced today that a cyclist has been taken to hospital following a collision with a private coach.

*A 51-year old cyclist was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee on Monday evening (Dec 30) after sustaining a serious head injury in a road traffic incident involving a coach.

*It’s not clear what if any type of collision took place between the 51-year-old local cyclist on his bike and the private coach, which was taking passengers from Inverness to Edinburgh shortly after 5pm last night. But the man came off his bike and a sustained a serious head injury, which led to him being admitted to the intensive care unit at Ninewells Hospital.

*His condition is said to be serious but stable.

*The incident happened near the junction of the A9 Perth to Inverness road and Inveralmond Place, just north of the Inveralmond roundabout.

*Emergency services were quickly at the scene and police enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident. The 51-year-old male driver of the bus and his 19 passengers have all been interviewed, but officers also want to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time, as they may have information that is useful to enquiries.
