Police chase ends at Kinnoull Hill: van plunges 150m downwards

 Dramatic police chase through Perth ended at the bottom of Kinnoull Hill.

At around 10.20pm on Wednesday night police made an attempt to stop the blue Ford transit van in the city centre however, it failed to stop.

The chase ended at the bottom of Kinnoull Hill, leaving emergency services rescuing the driver. A 52-year-old man was rushed to Ninewells as his condition is described as serious but stable.

A helicopter, police, ambulance and fire crews were in attendance.  One witness spoken to Perth Gazette and said: “the activity was to the east of Kinnoull Hill and slightly to the West of the Binn Hill………………on Muirhall Road (where the emergency vehicles were) and activity in the field South of that towards Kinfauns Castle.”

A spokesman from Police Scotland said to The Courier:

“At about 10.20pm yesterday evening, officers received a report of a Ford Transit van being driven erratically in Perth city centre.

“Officers attended, activated blue lights, but the van failed to stop.

“The van continued along towards Balthayock where it left the road while trying to negotiate a bend.

“A 52-year-old man was conveyed to Ninewells Hospital, where his condition is being described as serious but stable.”
