Over the weekend of Friday June 13 to Sunday, June 15, Perth City Centre will be transformed into an adventurer’s dream with a range of adrenaline pumping activities aimed at everyone from novice to expert.
The weekend will offer two programmes: the Adventure Programme which is packed with different activities to try; and the Inspiration Programme of speakers from around the UK.
The Adventure programme will include canoeing, kayaking, bungee jumping, a zip wire, archery, climbing, mountain biking skills, white water rafting and much more.
The Inspiration programme will give visitors the opportunity to hear some truly awe inspiring stories of bravery and adventure including: Olympic Gold Medalist Tim Baillie MBE; Calum McNicol, part of a team which rowed across the Atlantic in 2013; Sean Conway, the first man to swim the length of Britain; adventure family the Meeks and more.
All activities are suitable for families to come along and try something new. Some are restricted to 8 years and above, but there will also be activities suitable for those under 8.
Councillor Bob Ellis, Convener of the Council’s Sports and Active Recreation Forum, said: “This is one of the biggest adventure festivals in Scotland and I hope that the events on offer will inspire people to come along and enjoy themselves, and possibly try one of the activities for the first time. I hope that our residents and visitors to the area will be encouraged to come along and enjoy what I’m sure will be a fantastic festival.”
Residents of Perth and Kinross are being encouraged to embrace their adventurous side and come along to the Perthshire Adventure Festival in June. Booking for the events is now open. To avoid disappointment on the day, it is advised that you pre-book any activities you wish to take part in as spaces are limited.
