Last week it had emerged Perth & Kinross Council were in talks of changing fortnightly collections to monthly.

However, a spokesman from Perth & Kinross Council confirmed to Perth Gazette said: “A report will be going before the Environment Committee on Wednesday to propose a trial that we see waste bin sizes reduced, however the collections will still run fortnightly.”

Over 5,000 new SMALLER waste bins will be delivered to surrounding areas of Perth in a bid to cut waste. However, fortnightly collections will remain.

A one year trial will be place and if the test comes out positive over 70,000 residents will have the same system. The trial will commence next February 2015, the new scheme is expected to cost over £1m.
