Fancy yourself as the next Venus Williams or Maria Sharapova, it’s not too late to enter ‘The Charity Turbo Ladies Doubles Tennis Tournament’ held at Glenalmond College.

This June the annual ‘Charity Turbo Tennis Tournament’ will be raising money for Home-Start Perth for the third year running. Nine years ago the first tournament was organised by a small group of friends getting together to play social tennis at their local tennis club whilst raising some money for charity. Since 2005 the tournament has increased in popularity and size, with the tournament outgrowing past venues this year the tournament will be held at Glenalmond College, who have provided a much sought after larger venue!

Home-Start Perth is celebrating 30 years of supporting families with children under five in the Perth and Kinross area this year. By offering confidential support, friendship and practical help to parents experiencing difficulties in their day to day lives, with the help of their dedicated trained volunteers.

The Charity Turbo Tennis Tournament takes place on Wednesday 18th of June and with the kind donations from local businesses sponsoring prizes for the main draw and the plate tournament. Lunch, Pimms and strawberries will also be available for a truly authentic tennis filled day out.

For any participants or attendees keen to have their tennis racket (or rackets) restrung, a racket stringer will be on hand to string rackets, with £5 from each racket strung donated to Home-Start Perth.

Event organisers Carrie Lambert and Ronnie Murray-Poore decided to support Home-Start Perth 3 years ago, as they wanted to focus on supporting local charities. Carrie explained: “The reason we chose to support Home-Start Perth is we wanted to support local children and we like the overall feel of the charity. Knowing that the money we raise goes directly to supporting families locally, was important.”

With sponsors such as Head, Tullibardine Distillery, Scotbeef and Caroline Trotter Photography, to name but a few coming on board to support the event this year, so that 100% of the money raised goes to Home-Start Perth.
The Home-Start Perth team are delighted to have been chosen as the beneficiary for the third year running, Kirsty Richardson, manager of Home-Start Perth said: “We feel very privileged to have been chosen for the third year to benefit from this fantastic annual fundraising event, especially in this special 30th Birthday Celebration year of Home-Start Perth.  It is thanks to events like this that we are able to continue to provide support to families in Perth and surrounding areas.  It is also a great opportunity to raise the profile of the work we do and recognise the amazing hard work and dedication of our Home-Start Volunteers, without whom, the Charity would not be able to operate.”
