Facebook have released a new feature to the social networking website called ‘Safety Check’
Facebook have released a new feature to let your friends and family know you are safe if an emergency disaster strikes. For example, your mother lives in Perthshire, Scone and you are on holiday in Florida an earth quake happens, Facebook will be alerted, and then it shall alert you by a push notification.
The decent step is to mark you are safe, a selected choice of family and friends will then see the safe stamp leaving their worries from their hearts.
How does it work?
When the tool is activated after a natural disaster and if you’re in the affected area, you’ll receive a Facebook notification asking if you’re safe.
It will then determine your location by looking at the city you have listed in your profile, your last location if you’ve opted in to the Nearby Friends product, and the city where you are using the internet.
What happens if I am not at the location its mentioned?
Simply mark the stamp that says “I’m not in the area” — easy!
