A new Marks & Spencer Simply Food store has created 10 new jobs at the Moto service area at Kinross on the M90 in Perthshire.
The Provost of Perth and Kinross Council, Liz Grant, officially opened the store –the first to be opened by Moto on the motorway network in Scotland − on Thursday (5 March).
She cut a ribbon to mark the start of trading in the 1,100 square-foot store, which will give drivers and local people the opportunity to pick up quality food products on the road. Customers will be able to choose from a wide range of ready meals, fresh produce, sandwiches, salads, snacks and fresh flowers.
Afterwards she said: “I am always pleased to welcome a new outlet and additional jobs to Perth and Kinross and am happy to open the new Marks & Spencer Simply Food store. Kinross-shire is one of the key entry points to the area for visitors and people passing through on Scotland’s busy motorway network, and I hope that a friendly welcome at the Moto Kinross will encourage people to come back in future and spend more time in the neighbouring towns and villages.”
Moto’s Retail Director Tim Gittins said: “We’re constantly looking at ways to increase the choice available to motorists who use our motorway service areas. As well as increasing variety, the Marks & Spencer Simply Food offering is the perfect solution for busy commuters who need to top up their weekly shop on their way home. And naturally we’re delighted that this investment has created more jobs for the area.”
Sean Dowling Jones, M&S Head of UK Franchise said: “We are pleased to bring the successful Simply Food concept to Kinross. Feedback from motorists has been excellent since the first Marks & Spencer Simply Food format was introduced to Toddington Service Area in 2003 and we are sure that this will be echoed at Kinross.”
The Kinross store is the 35th to be opened by Moto and will be open from 7.00am to 10.00pm seven days a week.
