SSE’s engineers aims to restore power back in Alyth very soon prior to safety checks being carried out.

Alyth have been affected following the floods since Thursday, over 90 homes and businesses have been damaged following the weather.

British Red Cross, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, Police Scotland, Perth & Kinross Council, SSE and the community echoed community spirits throughout the village.

SSE have provided free hot food and drinks since Thursday and have been praised by thousands after their Welfare Van and teams were dispatched.

One resident said: “Its a shame to see many families homes have been affected by the flash floods. Charities and organisations have been excellent with their fast decision making and action.  Great to see so many come together and help each other out”
