Looking ahead to starting his new role, Smith said: “I’m absolutely honoured to be taking up the position of Political Correspondent in Scotland for Bauer during what is a truly unique period in this country’s history.
“I’ve enjoyed a tremendous career at Bauer so far and have a huge passion for politics. That is mirrored by Bauer’s investment and commitment to allowing us to report the biggest news and issues to our audiences across the country in the best way we can. I can’t wait to get started.”
Smith started his broadcasting career with Kingdom FM in Fife in 2003 having spent a year doing work experience there while studying at the former Glenrothes College. From there he moved to Radio Tay as a reporter for a short period before re-joining Kingdom FM as News Editor. A year later he was called back to Radio Tay as Head of News and Sport – and then News Editor – until this latest appointment.
