Perth and Kinross Council have announced the official line up for this years Christmas Light Switch-On.

On the 19th of November 2016, Perth and Kinross Council will be holding a major event in the fair city of Perth to celebrate this years Perth Winter Festival. Below is the acts confirmed so far for the children and main stages. We’ll update the list as we get them!

Fleur East (  X Factor runner up), Slade and Professor Green will also be attending the event.

Provost Liz Grant commented: “This year’s City of Perth Winter Festival promises to be the biggest the Fair City has ever seen, with entertainment, shopping, music and fun for all the family spread across the city centre. Christmas in Scotland really does start here!”

DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince will not be attending. This was a clue as part of the social media announcement and it was revealed that Basil Brush is a big fan of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince.

Santa and the Provost will then take to the Tay Street stage to switch on the Christmas lights 6.15 pm, followed immediately by a stunning fireworks display across the River Tay.

Live entertainment from 4.00 pm through to 8.00 pm, will be led by Charlie Healy, who became a household name as a member of X Factor finalists The Risk, and who will be acting as MC on the main stage. As well as Professor Green, Fleur East, and Slade, there will be live music from Lorraine Cosby, boy band The Half Eight, and designer Wayne Hemingway, who will show off his other skills by DJ-ing a Northern Soul set guaranteed to get toes tapping.

Youngsters are in for a real treat on the Children’s Stage, which runs from 12 noon until 5.00 pm at Horsecross Plaza. Back with a boom boom is the one and only Basil Brush. The cheeky, irreverent, charming, naughty and quick-witted fox has the ability to make people of all ages laugh and smile with ease.

Joining Basil on this stage will be Little Mix tribute act Mini Mixx, bringing the chemistry of the first ever group winners of the X Factor to the Perth stage, and for Beliebers, The Justin Bieber show will play tribute to the iconic choreography and fantastic presence of the global pop star.

Cobblers the Clown promises to keep the party rocking with a magic variety show, balloon animals, action dances and games and the Princess Show is set to put on a magical act which all the family will enjoy, with classic well-loved songs, spectacular costumes and inspiring tales.

On the Community Stage from 12 noon to 5pm in King Edward Street, the communities of Perth and Kinross will be coming together to showcase the city’s creative talent. Venues across the city centre will also be alive with music, dance and drama and there will be exhibitions and the chance for revellers to try their hand at some cultural activities.

Saturday 19 November is also the start of the two-day annual Outdoor Festival of Chocolate, with lots of tasty treats on offer from chocolatiers and chocolate-inspired stalls in Perth High Street.

‘The Christmas Lights Switch-On event is part of Perth Winter Festival 2016, an exciting programme of events celebrating the winter season in Perth and Kinross. As part of support to the Winter season we are also once again running the ‘Free after Two promotion in Council-operated car parks, offering motorists the opportunity to park for free after 2.00 pm on Thursdays and Fridays from 24 November 2016 until 27 January 2017 (inclusive).’
