Six transformational Perthshire projects are set for a funding boost from SSE’s Sustainable Development Fund.

Over £180,000 has been granted to six projects in Perthshire that together will deliver a number of benefits to the area including; skills development, a woodland walk, an employability programme for disadvantaged young adults, a community-based solution to social care and a fantastic new playpark for local children who currently have to travel some distance to access park facilities, according to SSE.

The programme will help young people who are often facing financial hardship, mental health issues and an unstable time at home take responsibility for their future direction and well-being and will run for a three year period.

The decisions were made by an independent panel chaired by Lord Jack McConnell.

Fiona Gilbert, Development Manager of Remake Scotland, said: “The generous support from the SSE Sustainable Development Fund means Remake can continue to offer development opportunities for local vulnerable & disadvantaged local young people by investing in life-skills and livelihoods. Young adults struggle to gain opportunities, as a lack of experience stands in the way of employment. Remake is committed to investing in young people by building confidence, skills and ability.”

Jack McConnell said: “We received a lot of good quality applications this year, and the six projects we have chosen to fund will help benefit Perthshire communities economically and socially. We wish them well as they move the projects forward. We really do believe they will make a lasting difference in the coming years.”
