Perthshire politicians, John Swinney MSP and Pete Wishart MP, have praised quick-thinking first responders at Perth Airport following a helicopter crash at the site.

The crash resulted in one man sustaining leg injuries that were initially treated at the scene by Scottish Charity Air Ambulance paramedics.

Commenting, John Swinney MSP said: “I commend the actions of the first people at the scene of the crash, including nearby residents and Scottish Charity Air Ambulance paramedics, for their assistance at the crash site. I hope that the person injured in this incident recovers quickly.

“It is important that air accident investigators are given time to inspect the scene and the aircraft in order to determine what caused this incident.”

Pete Wishart MP said: “Thankfully, incidents of this kind are rare, but I am very relieved to hear that no-one was seriously hurt.

“The way that the incident was swiftly dealt with by all involved is a credit to the emergency services.”

It’s understood the helicopter is only used for training purposes.
