The Rt Hon David Mundell, Secretary of State, and Luke Graham MP today met Council Leader Murray Lyle and senior officers to discuss the Tay Cities Deal.
The plans are to transform Perth City Hall into a major cultural attraction. City Hall is also the proposed location for the Stone of Destiny, should Perth & Kinross Council be successful in their request to house the iconic stone a spokesperson said.
Cllr Lyle said: “Following today’s announcement of the City Deal for Stirling and Clackmannanshire, it was a pleasure to be able to discuss the benefits a Cities Deal for Tayside could bring to the area with the Secretary of State. Culture is at the heart of our plans for growth, and City Hall will be transformed into a high quality attraction, housing a collection of national significance. We are also seeking Cities Deal funding for projects such as the Creative Exchange, which will see the former St John’s Primary School reborn as a start-up hub for local creative businesses. Together with the V&A in Dundee, we aim to make Tayside a must-visit destination.”
The deal is also to deliver more jobs and a secure investment that will help attract and retain jobs.
