The Gannochy Trust, one of Scotland’s largest independent funders, has launched a £500,000 COVID-19 – Recovery and Renewal Fund to help charities working in Perth and Kinross cope during the pandemic.

The new fund will provide welcome relief from the financial and operational pressures facing charities during the outbreak, as well as enabling the development and delivery of vital support services to people and communities affected by the virus.

Local charities can apply for one of three grants to complement the other funding streams available during the pandemic. Small grants will provide up to £10,000 of funding; main grants offer up to £30,000 of financial support; and a major grant can provide up to £50,000. The fund is available from 1st June 2020 and will remain in place until June 2021, or until the allocated funds are exhausted.

David Gray, Chairman of The Gannochy Trust said: “Inspired by the philanthropic vision of our founder A K Bell, The Gannochy Trust has a long and proud history of supporting our local community. We recognise that during the COVID-19 outbreak, the good work of charities is more important now than ever before. We also understand the enormous financial and operational burden the pandemic is putting on these organisations.

With this in mind, we have launched a new support fund to assist in keeping our local charities operational, and to enable them to develop and deliver the important services that our local community needs during this difficult time.”

The Gannochy Trust COVID-19 – Recovery and Renewal Fund is available for registered charities who are located in or delivering important services to the people of Perth and Kinross, and who meet at least two of the following three criteria: their operations and financial stability have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; they have opportunities for providing new support services for people and communities in Perth and Kinross impacted by the virus; they are a current recipient of Gannochy Trust funding.

Charities must meet the Gannochy Trust’s core funding objectives for Perth and Kinross of improving the quality of life for people, or developing and inspiring young people. The Trust’s normal funding exclusions will apply.

The Trust welcomes eligible charities to apply for funding here.
