Top sporting professionals held free masterclasses for golf and netball fans at a Perthshire hotel.

Crieff Hydro Hotel welcomed professional golfer, Gabrielle Macdonald and members of the Strathclyde Sirens netball team for special workshops. The hotel is a proud sponsor of both Gabrielle and the Sirens netball team.

Gabrielle led group golf clinics covering basic and intermediate skills. Towards the end of the session, each attendee received personalised tips from the pro golfer.

Gabrielle has been competing in the Ladies European Tour (LET) this year which has seen her travel across the world.

Members of the Strathclyde Sirens delivered two free workshops for kids, offering a taster of the sport.

Participants were taught basic netball skills incorporating a variety of fun games. The morning session was specifically for children aged nine and under and the afternoon session was open to children of all ages.

At the end of each session the children were invited to get their photos taken with players and were presented with a certificate for taking part.

Kristian Campbell, General Manager of Crieff Hydro Hotel, said: “We are a proud supporter of both Gabrielle and the Sirens and were delighted to have the opportunity to share their passion for their sports with guests and the local community through these free sessions.

“Gabrielle very kindly found time in her busy Ladies European Tour schedule to lead the golf clinics, which were a great opportunity for golf enthusiasts to learn from a pro.

“The netball sessions were a fantastic activity to help keep children entertained during the summer holidays.

“Netball is quickly becoming the fastest growing sport in Scotland, and we hope we have helped to encourage youngsters to develop a passion for the sport through these workshops.”

Perthshire law firm Macnabs awarded for Will Aid effort

Macnabs, a leading law firm in Perthshire has raised more than £10,000 for charity this year after taking part in a will-writing campaign where lawyers generously give up their time for free to write Wills for local people in exchange for a donation. Macnabs has taken part in the annual Will Aid scheme for the sixth time and raised an impressive £10,795 this year in the month-long fundraiser, making them the highest fundraising firm in Perthshire and second-highest in Scotland. This is the 6th year Macnabs has taken part, raising a fantastic £33,079 to date. Partner Althea Kennedy comments: “At Macnabs we know that Will Aid helps such worthwhile causes and for us to be part of that and to give something back has been wonderful. Over the past few years we’ve raised more and more and have seen so many of our clients benefiting from the campaign. It is so important that people make a Will – without one the law decides how your estate is passed on, and this might not be in line with your wishes. “We have also signed up for the 2017 campaign and appointments are filling up fast, so if you would like to make your Will this November, please do get in touch. It is very easy to make a Will – and it will save your family unnecessary distress at an already difficult time.” Andrea Hay, Partner and Head of the Private Client team, adds: “Even if you already have a Will, it is important to update it every 3-5 years, especially if your circumstances have changed. If you now have children or grandchildren, if you are recently divorced or separated, or have a Partner but are not legally married, or if perhaps a beneficiary named in your Will has deceased, then make sure your Will reflects what you want to happen when you die.”
