Keys have been handed over for eight new affordable Council houses at Inchture.
The new houses, located in Barratt Homes’ Innis Park development, are part of the Council’s multi-million pound house building programme; and it is anticipated that a further 146 new affordable house and flat developments will be underway before March 2015.
The eight properties were completed 13 weeks ahead of schedule with the keys being handed over in early April for all eight houses following the signing of the tenancy agreements.
Councillor Dave Doogan, Convener of Perth & Kinross Council’s Housing and Health Committee visited the housing development to see the new houses and to meet some of the new tenants.
Councillor Doogan said: “There is a shortfall of affordable housing across Perth and Kinross, and we have made a commitment to do all that we can to give people local to the area access to high quality affordable accommodation.
“These eight houses at Innis Park are another step forward in helping us deliver on this priority and also demonstrates our commitment to provide high quality accommodation allowing people to remain in their own community.
“I’m delighted that our housing programme is progressing so well and that we are able to welcome our tenants into their new homes, I hope that we will be able to do the same very soon with some of our other development projects currently underway.
“We are working extremely hard to ensure people can have an affordable place to live and the completion of this phase of our building programme is fantastic news.”
David Provan, a resident at Inchture with his wife, Morag and daughter, Chantelle, commented: “We are over the moon now that we have moved to Inchture.
