The Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) has gifted £30,000 to NHS Tayside from the profits of their shop and café at Perth Royal Infirmary.
Volunteers run a shop and café at the main entrance to the hospital, providing teas, coffees, snacks and lunches to patients, staff and visitors. NHS Tayside does not charge any rent to RVS for the premises and, in return, any profits made are gifted back to NHS Tayside to invest in services for older people.
NHS Tayside Chairman Sandy Watson today (Wednesday) met with members of RVS to thank them for their hard work and commitment in running the venture at PRI.
Alison Love and Julie Bryson of RVS handed over the cheque for £30,000 which will be used to enhance the main entrance of the hospital with dementia-friendly improvements including signs, lighting, floor coverings, clocks and wall colours.
Sandy Watson said, “NHS Tayside is very grateful to the RVS volunteers who give their time and effort to run the café and shop at Perth Royal Infirmary, providing a much-valued service for our patients, staff and visitors.
“This gift will allow us to make a number of improvements at the main entrance to enhance the patient environment for older people and people living with dementia.”
Royal Voluntary Service area manager Alison Love said, “We are delighted to present such a large amount of money to NHS Tayside. The money was raised through the hard work and efforts of our dedicated volunteers who help Royal Voluntary Service in its work to support older people and strive to make Scotland a great place to grow old.”
