Perth Taxi driver assaulted during early hours of New Years Day

A taxi driver from Ace Taxis was assaulted at around 5am in the early hours of New Years Day.

A taxi driver from Ace Taxis was assaulted at around 5am in the early hours of New Years Day.

The driver had managed to complete a job at around 5am where the driver was attacked on Ballantine Place.

Ace Taxis confirmed the driver was injured but recovering after taken several blows to the face and it is believed the vehicle was also seriously damaged. The suspect ran off who is being described as European national, gender has not been confirmed.

Allegedly the attack was unprovoked and the customer who had been dropped off also defended the driver but unfortunately the attacker had escaped.

Anyone who has information that could assist officers with their enquiries into the incident should contact Police Scotland on 101.
