At least 100 staff are based at the Ayrshire warehouse are to be made redundant while Perth store is also in the firing line. USC opened up a branch in Perth last year who had a strong marketing campaign on Facebook advertising discounted deals.

The Perth store hires around 6-15 employees. USC have failed to comment.

An employee told STV News “We were all called into a meeting this morning by the bosses.

“It only lasted about five minutes and they told us that all the stock was getting moved down to another store in Shirebrook and that we won’t have jobs by Sunday.

“After that we were just left in the warehouse but there was nothing to do because there are no website order coming in.

“Then they asked us if we wanted to help load the trucks with the stock. There were about nine big Sports Direct trucks emptying the stock.

“It’s shocking, I’m shocked. Some people were in tears because a lot of the people here completely depend on this job to pay off their mortgage.”
