Tom Black has been appointed chief executive officer of the Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust, with effect from 1 August 2025. Black succeeds current director Peter Quinn, who is retiring after a period of successful leadership, PKCT announced Wednesday, 1 May 2025.

Black joins the charity following his role as senior community investment manager with SSE plc, where he led initiatives on environmental sustainability, community development and funding programmes. He previously spent 10 years as community funds manager at Foundation Scotland.

“I am delighted to be appointed to the role of chief executive at PKCT and look forward to working with the skilled and committed staff team and board to take the organisation forward based on the success it has achieved under Peter Quinn,” Black said. “As a keen outdoor enthusiast who grew up in Perthshire and is passionate about getting others into the great outdoors, I’m excited to take on a role that resonates so closely with my own interests and values.”

Stephen Woollard, chair of the Trust, welcomed the appointment: “On behalf of the PKCT trustees, I am delighted to welcome Tom to lead the Trust from August. He brings great enthusiasm and experience to the role and we are all looking forward to working with him.

“Our work across Perth and Kinross has been very successful and effective thanks to our funders and dedicated small team of staff, including director Peter Quinn who is retiring, and to whom we give our thanks,” Woollard added. “Tom inherits the management of a small charity that is in good health and year on year is fulfilling its mission to ‘Get people into the heart of the countryside and the countryside into the hearts of the people.’”

Black will formally assume the role on 1 August 2025.
