The controversial traffic management plan, created by Perth and Kinross Council has gone down a success following concerns of its planning.

The local authority closed several routes, including some roads in Perth City Centre to make the event traffic less congested. Deputy director of housing and environment Keith McNamara defended the plans and said a balance needs to be made.

Our own Hollie Irvine also said the planning in place made the event run smoother, as she opted to take a Stagecoach bus back home yesterday, with all of her equipment.

Other commuters also praised Perth and Kinross Council for the traffic management plan, Scott Milne on Facebook also said: ” It ran like clockwork and was actually a masterstroke by PKC well done.”

Jennifer on Twitter said: “Well done to all involved with the on-site management which was excellent.”

Michael Fergusson on Twitter said: “Thought it was excellent both in and out well impressed back into Perth within 15 mins can’t praise them enough well done to all involved.”

Richard Smith said on Twitter: “Still believe the traffic restrictions in Scone were slightly excessive. Fair enough close the roads around the venue, but to restrict the entire length of Stormont Rd in Scone was IMHO excessive. PS NO ISSUES Encountered”

Pete Robertson said on Twitter: “Yeah thought it went well – very impressed. Shuttle buses went like clockwork mainly due to closed roads which was the right thing to do. Can they do something similar for rewind? The buses from there are a nightmare”

A poll on our website was started on Friday and 92% had said there were no issues with travelling to and from the site, while 8% voted for minor issues.

No major issues were reported however, it was confirmed a couple of minibuses did not follow drop off points correctly.
