Perth Women’s Collective to host a film screening and panel discussion of ‘Not Without Us’

Perth Women’s Collective is an informal group run by local charity Gender Equality Perth. PWC run an active Facebook group containing over 500 members.

Not Without Us’ is a rousing documentary immersing viewers in the moving, personal journeys of seven grassroots campaigners from around the world as they attempt to harness the only force that can prevent catastrophic climate change: the will of the people.

From decreasing biodiversity to indigenous land rights abuses, Not Without Us connects the dots between growing economic inequality, fossil fuel driven economies and government inaction in the face of the greatest crisis engulfing our planet.  Putting frontline communities’ perspectives at its centre, it powerfully conveys their call for deep, far-reaching system change.

Following the screening a panel will discuss the issues raised in the film, with emphasis on fighting the climate crisis in Scotland. The panel will consist of Divindy Grant, who has 12+ years’ experience in strategy development and delivery covering climate action, sustainable infrastructure and currently is the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Team Leader for Perth & Kinross Council; Kate Jones, who has 11+ years’ experience in the energy sector and now works with Innovate UK to support energy networks to innovate rapidly to achieve net zero at the lowest cost to energy users; Melanie Macrae, who has 15 years’ experience of working in sustainable energy, the last two years of which have been spent working in energy strategy at the Scottish Government and Jess Pepper, a mum, climate advocate and Climate Reality leader with many years of involvement in community action on climate change and founder of the now international Climate Café movement.

Rebecca McClune, one of the coordinators of Perth Women’s Collective, says “We are thrilled to wrap up our year-long funded programme of events with such a formidable panel of local female activists and experts. This promises to be both an educational and inspiring event.”

The screening and discussion of ‘Not Without Us’ will take place at 7pm on Tuesday 7th June 2022 at Perth Museum and Art Gallery and is open to all gender identities. Tickets are FREE but must be booked in advance. For further information about the event and to reserve tickets visit perthwomenscollective.com

This event marks the end of a year-long programme for Perth Women’s Collective, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
