Search efforts are continuing at Moncrieff Island in Perth after a 27-year-old man was reported missing in the River Tay.
The alarm was raised at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 14 August 2025, when emergency services received reports of three men in difficulty in the water. Two of the men were located and assessed at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
At least two helicopters were involved in the search, while a third helicopter, part of the Police Scotland Air Support Unit was briefly seen over Perth on Thursday night, 14 August 2025.
A major response has been mounted, with local police officers supported by the Mountain Rescue Team, Air Support Unit, and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Search operations are resuming today (Friday, 15 August), with Tay Street closed in both directions between Marshall Place and Canal Street to motorists and pedestrians.
Police Scotland have urged the public to avoid the area while the search continues.
UPDATE: The body of a man has been recovered following searches in the water it the Moncreiffe Island area of Perth, police have said.
