Perth & Kinross Council was proud to host its very first Modern Apprentice Graduation Ceremony on Thursday 20th March. The ceremony was a celebration to mark the achievements of the 29 young people who have successfully completed their Modern Apprenticeship with the Council.
At the graduation ceremony, the Modern Apprentices were welcomed by the Council’s Chief Executive, Bernadette Malone and Perth and Kinross Provost Liz Grant who presented Certificates of Achievement to mark this significant milestone in the journeys of the young people.
The Provost said: “It gives me great pleasure to see the progress of each of our Modern Apprentices and to see the enormous contribution they have made. The programme gives them a great chance to learn while they earn and gain recognised qualifications for their chosen career. Our young people are the future of our communities and enabling them to be workplace-ready is extremely important.”
The Chief Executive commented: “As a Council we have made a commitment to developing real opportunities for local young people to enter the working world prepared with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to be effective employees. A key element of that commitment is our Modern Apprenticeships scheme and I am delighted that we have so many enthusiastic and hardworking young people who have progressed successfully through the programme already.”
The Council’s Modern Apprenticeship programme is open to 16 to 19 year olds and provides a great opportunity for young people to gain a vast range of work experience while working towards a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in areas including Business & Administration, Customer Service, Horticulture and Sport & Leisure.
