Almost 60,000 campers have already arrived T in the Park to kick start the festival’s first year in the stunning surroundings of Strathallan Castle.
Organisers and Police Scotland have both hailed the first year of the festival’s Traffic Management Plan as a success so far but have reminded day trippers to plan ahead tomorrow by checking www.trafficscotland.org/tinthepark and then to follow event signage.
Geoff Ellis, Festival Director of T in the Park said: “We’re delighted with how everything is going so far. There’s an incredible atmosphere onsite and Prides did Scotland proud with a brilliant opening performance on the main stage.”
“As it’s a brand new site for everyone this year, we ask fans not to assume anything and to take the time to explore and get to know the campsite and the arena. We’re starting with a blank canvas and we want everyone to respect our beautiful surroundings and to use the bins and the toilets provided.”

Police Scotland has made 12 arrests so far and recorded 83 crimes, which is on a par with last year. There have been 12 thefts from tents and Police would remind campers to ensure their personal belongings are placed securely out of sight and not to leave anything in view.
Superintendent Colin Brown said: “The vast majority of people have enjoyed themselves today and taken our advice and behaved responsibly.
“However, a small number have ignored that advice and have been dealt with. Our advice is simple: look after yourselves and your friends, behave and have a good time.”
The onsite medical team has had 142 people visit the hospital tent so far with 4 people taken offsite – but for nothing critical.
Says Nick Moore, Scottish Ambulance Service: “It’s been a good day for our teams so far and most people are presenting with a mixture of minor ailments. The weather today has been changeable and although it’s cloudy, it is also very warm so we ask fans to make sure they look after themselves by keeping hydrated
“If you’ve not left the house yet, remember to pack any medication you need over the weekend, including prescriptions, inhalers and diabetic medicines – and bring appropriate clothing for all weathers.”
