A music event held in Perthshire has been cancelled due low ticket sales organisers have said.

The event called Mugstock 2023, which was due to be held at Strathallan Castle near Auchterarder in Perthshire over the first weekend in August, has been cancelled due to low ticket sales.

Organisers issued a plea last week to attempt to drive more interest but despite their best efforts, sale targets were not met. Many Perthshire residents around the area have claimed they were only made aware of the event when the Daily Record published an article that it was cancelled.

A statement on their website reads: “We did achieve our best ever sales, but it wasn’t enough. Having been absent from the scene for so long our visibility was almost zero as we started to plan MugStock 2023. It was always ambitious to bring back an event after a 4 year break, and establish it in a new site and new community.

We were working to figure out every single logistical detail at the same time as trying to raise our profile. In the eleventh hour wit a great public and press response to our appeal we have achieved the visibility we have been lacking and we are excited to build on that with the luxury of time and many of the big jobs for next year already completed.
